Position Summary :
The Purchasing Manager will lead the tactical sourcing, procurement, and vendor management for Brock Built Homes under the strategic direction of the Vice President of Purchasing. Responsibilities will include overseeing daily purchasing operations for Brock Built field support, construction, and site development initiatives to ensure the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials and services. This leader will play a key role in driving, developing, and nurturing positive supplier and trade partnerships to improve quality, pricing, and availability while supporting the company's growth plans.
This role will significantly contribute to the company's growth plans. The ideal candidate will provide leadership to a growing team of purchasing professionals, while fostering positive, collaborative relationships with other departments. This candidate should be an organized self-starter who can direct the appropriate level of tactical execution to manage spending within all areas of the company.
Collaboration with construction, workplace services, professional consultants, finance & business stakeholders is necessary to succeed in this role. Strong project management and communication will also be key in this role as the person will be interacting with various departments and levels of Brock Built employees, suppliers and trades to facilitate cross-functional sourcing activities and support company initiatives.
Job Functions :
- Lead and develop the Purchasing team, ensuring efficient operations and alignment with company goals.
- Promote accountability and alignment through clear goals, metrics, and performance benchmarks for the team.
- Oversee the procurement of materials, equipment, and services using competitive bids, proposals, and negotiations to achieve optimal pricing and quality.
- Manage the preparation of bidding documents, including notices to bidders, instructions, specifications, and proposals.
- Conduct thorough evaluations of pricing and quotations, making purchasing decisions based on quality, cost, and supplier performance.
- Oversee supplier performance and ensure compliance with service-level agreements (SLAs).
- Supervise the issuance of purchase orders and ensure all requests are processed in accordance with company policies and authorized approval levels.
- Establish, maintain, and broaden preferred supplier and trade lists, approving additions and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders.
- Implement cost-saving strategies across departments by identifying opportunities to reduce expenses without compromising quality.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders across construction, finance, and operations to ensure procurement aligns with business objectives.
- Assist with budget planning and forecasting, ensuring procurement strategies align with financial goals.
- Govern functional processes by enforcing business rules and guidelines to ensure consistent interpretation and execution of projects.
- Monitor supplier and trade relationships to ensure strong partnerships and negotiated savings that benefit the company's bottom line.
