What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pharmacy Data Entry Technician position at Brockie Pharmatech?
Long term care pharmacy provider setting. Brockie Pharmatech is a south central Pennsylvania region institutional provider. We utilize state of the art technology in a professional and fast paced environment to provide our customers with a high level of customer service.
Our Data Entry technicians are responsible for the majority of the order and prescription data entry for our customers in institutionalized care. We work with multiple electronic medication administration records (EMAR) and pharmacy to facility interfacing such as Point Click Care, Accuflo, AOD/Matrix care, as well as many others.
We provide a high level of care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Essential duties include but are not limited to:
- Reconcile incoming prescriptions and medication orders, including the processing of faxed, electronically received, and mailed prescriptions as per standard operating procedure
- Processing refill requests faxed to the pharmacy from customers, electronically bill, and generate labels for filling.
- Answering phone calls and handling all necessary information from nursing staff to process prescriptions, provide cost information, or direct questions to pharmacist where appropriate.
- Recognize and interpret hand written and typed information from inbound faxed prescriptions, including ability to read sig codes and calculate dosages.
- Process incoming e-prescriptions and follow-up as needed for any identified discrepancies
- Create, export, and bill Monthly cycle fill for routine medications at appropriate times to ensure delivery to required facility
- Process monlthy reports as required by nursing facilities
- Contact nursing facilities, calculate, and process IV medications needed on a daily basis
- Work with Filling Technicians to maintain a steady workflow which allows them to meet delivery times and expectations for the day
- Process reports to request prescriptions for Personal care homes on a proactive basis
- Knowledge of drugs, medical nomenclature, and metric system.
- Helping to fill medications in blister packs, compound IV's, and visit nursing facilities on occasion
Required Duties-
- 2nd shift person 130pm-10 m-f and then 8-430 on Saturday as a rotation.
- Weekends on a rotational basis as well as on-call weekends which can include Holidays
- Work a minimum of 40 hours per week
- High School diploma or equivalent
