Dining Service Full Time Utility Worker
Position Summary:
Receives, inventories, stores, rotates, and issues stock. Performs preventive maintenance on equipment. Performs material handling and sanitation operations.
Essential Functions:
· Cleans and sanitizes equipment; performs deep cleaning and detailing of equipment.
· Checks invoices against purchase orders.
· Uses computer software to create orders. Sets up and schedules orders for delivery and/or daily menu (stock requisitions, transfers).
· Unpacks orders; packs return orders.
· Sets up storage areas.
· Stores product by code number; rotates stock.
· Takes inventory and reports shortages.
· Uses technology to enter inventory into FSS
· Operates motor vehicles
· Assists in directing and training student employees
· Maintains high sanitary, hygienic, and safety standards and conditions, adhering to HACCP and NYS Department of Health guidelines. This includes taking temperatures of refrigerated and frozen product upon receiving. Assures cleanliness and maintenance of kitchen, store rooms and equipment.
· Demonstrates excellent customer service at all times while working in a fast-paced team environment.
· Communicates effectively with management and culinary team regarding product inventories, shortages, etc.
· Participates in training and performs other duties as requested by management.
Education and Training
· High School/GED
Work Experience:
· Minimum 3 years experience in related area. Food systems knowledge preferred.
· A two-year degree from an accredited institute or community college in a related area may substitute for two years of experience
· Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates an ability to do the job will be considered.
Physical Demands:
· Position is very physically active.
· Must be able to lift/move 50 lbs. on a regular basis
· Ability to stand (all day if necessary), walk, bend, kneel, crouch, twist and reach as the job requires.
· Repetitive Motions: grasp, push, pull, lift.
Licensure/Certification
· Must have, or obtain (within 12 months of hire) ServSafe Certification
· Valid driver’s license in good standing
Skills/Abilities:
· Able to read and write English.
· Possess basic math skills.
· Possess basic computer skills.
Work Environment:
Typical kitchen and store room: exposure to extreme temperatures cold/heat, flame, chemicals, knives/sharp objects
