Description
Reporting to the Books Production Supervisor, the Group Leader I – Shipping and Receiving is responsible for managing the flow of incoming and outgoing product within the warehouse, including tasks of unloading deliveries, verifying inventory accuracy, packing orders for shipment, generating shipping label and tracking shipment statuses while ensuring proper documentation.
- Coordinates functional logistics staff internally to facilitate land-based freight movements, both inbound and outbound from the facility.
- Verify product dimension and weight to select shipping method.
- Prepare freight quotations.
- Prepare labels and bills of lading.
- Assist and support sales, export and warehouse departments.
- Maintain and update warehouse records.
- Keep track and manage all aspects of inventory and consolidated.
- Report any incidents or unsafe conditions immediately.
- Trouble shoots shipping issues and customer complaints that arise and work to solve them.
- Place merchandise in a warehouse or storage facility by packaging, lifting items as necessary, operating forklifts and pallet jacks for large goods.
- Develop and implement efficient inventory management procedures.
- Process invoices.
- Schedule delivery appts – both inbound and outbound.
- Address issues with various shipping companies. Post Office, UPS and LTL carriers.
- Work with our Customer Care on shipping issues, furnishing quotes, carrying out modifications to shipping addresses or shipping instructions.
- Monitor the incoming and outbound making sure it arrives in a timely manner.
- Utilize time keeping systems and attendance reporting and Labor Distribution reporting.
- Alert management of safety/policy infractions or other issues that may need addressed.

- Responsible for performing other duties of equal or lesser classification irrespective of required change in department, hours (including mandatory overtime) or work conditions as directed by management.
Qualifications
- High School diploma and/or GED equivalent; minimum of 1 years previous shipping and/or receiving experience.
- Fork Lift certification desired.
- Ability to perform at a high level of productivity in peak periods of operation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills

- Able to work irregular or extended hours, including weekends and nights as needed.

- Must be able to work in a production environment that may be subject to varied temperatures and other conditions, such as noise (conveyor), dust and glue or adhesives. Close and distant vision, using hands and fingers to handle and feel, talk and hear, sitting, standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs. frequently.
