Director of Catering and Club Member Events


Position Summary:

The Director of Catering and Club Member Events will promote the club's dining facilities for private banquets, business/social meetings, and club social events designated to enhance the overall enjoyment of the membership. The Director develops agreements and oversees all administrative and operational aspects of preparing and executing events. The Director works with banquet and other departments to ensure that the members’ and guests’ expectations are exceeded along with retaining membership in the club through innovative activities and programs.



Essential Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  •  Arranging and maintaining the Master Calendar and Communication of the calendar between members, all departments, and management regarding conflicts, changes, etc.
  • Oversee all Private Parties/Member Functions/Outside Events/ Internal events/ outside vendors.
  • Assist in planning all arrangements required for member functions (Golf, Racquets, Card play, Membership, etc.)
  • Arranges for special publicity needs and supplies for each event; decorates areas for promotions
  • Initial contact for members regarding private function scheduling
  • Creating menus for individual functions
  • Assist members in all phases of party planning (vendors, décor, rental equipment, etc.)
  • Liaison between vendors and members regarding any events
  • Responsible for arranging and distributing all the necessary information to the Executive Chef, Pastry Chef, Garde Manager, Director of Purchasing, Director of Food and Beverage, Banquet Department, etc.
  • Responsible for all private-party/membership billing
  • Prepare yearly budgets and forecasts for the department for the approval of the Board of Governors.
  • Assist the Food and Beverage department with the execution of member events, when required.
  • Plan group tours for members; serves as guide when appropriate
  • Hold associate staff meetings
  • Required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays as needed



Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

·        Strong sales ability

·        Management experience required.

·        Country Club or upscale resort/hotel background preferred.

·        Established contacts and relationships with decor, entertainment, and various vendors.

·        Proficiency in Microsoft Office and various event management software.

·        Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays.

 

Education & Work Experience Requirements:

·        Minimum of 5-8 years catering/events background in high volume environment, preferably in Country Clubs

·        Bachelor's Degree in a related field or Experience equivalent
