Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Draft and submit petitions, notices, affidavits/certificates of service and denial rights motions with the court on behalf of the patient and the facility.
- Provide all relevant information from the court hearing to the appropriate department at the facility.
- Compile, maintain and track the mental health court appearances and evaluation appointments for all patients admitted to the facility on an involuntary basis.
- Communicate effectively with court clerks, court-appointed doctors, public defenders and various court personnel in order to coordinate and deliver correct patient information for hearings and evaluations.
- Assemble chart materials for mental health court evaluations and hearings to provide evidence for each patient’s hold.
- Communicate patient court progression with appropriate departments at the facility.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of relevant activities.
Education/Experience/Skill Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in social work or health field preferred.
- Two or more years’ of related experience required.
- Understanding of court/criminal justice system and structure preferred.
