Job Description
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement prosecution strategies to aid in the effective handling of criminal cases in Bronx County
- Oversee assignment of cases
- Report to Deputy Division Chief regarding the productivity of the Bureau
- Participate in meetings and conferences between the District Attorney’s Office and other law enforcement agencies
- Serve on the faculty for the Office’s Continuing Legal Education (CLE) programs, including Orientation Training for new Assistants, Grand Jury training, and both Felony and Misdemeanor Trial
- Day-to-day supervision responsibilities of Bureau staff including, but not limited to, attendance, training and development
- Prepare case status and statistical reports, as required
- Be on-call on rotating nights/weekends to handle response to cases and make case assessments
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Juris Doctorate degree, 10 years of trial experience required or the equivalent including 4 years of prior management experience preferred
- New York State residency and US Citizenship required as of first day of employment
- Excellent people skills and demeanor
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
- Excellent computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
- Excellent presentation and organizational skills
- Ability to exercise good judgment and strong ethics
- Ability to analytically solve issues or problems from inception through conclusion Ability to motivate, organize, and direct all levels of staff in various responsibilities
- Working knowledge of investigative methods
- Must understand and respond clearly and effectively (oral/written) to complex legal issues
