Overview
Under the supervision of a program administrator and Director of Social Work or designee, responsible for providing social work services at assigned unit(s).
Responsibilities
- Establishes and maintains positive relationships with patients, visitors and other employees. Interacts professionally, courteously, and appropriately with patients, visitors and other employees. Behaves in a manner consistent with maintaining and furthering a positive public perception of Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center and its employees.
- Carry an active caseload as stipulated by departmental standards.
- Supervises social work staff and students assigned. May be delegated responsibility for teaching other students and staff.
- Responsible for a special departmental or service project.
- Collaborate with inter-disciplinary team in providing patient care. Liaison to community agencies.
- Responsible for teaching students and staff of other disciplines.
- Responsible for in-service training for social work and other disciplines.
- Participates in developing policies and procedures for the social work services. Provides necessary reports, record documentation and statistics as required.
- Delegated to represent Social Work department in community meetings and conferences.
- Perform other activities as shall be deemed appropriate in assuring services to patients and the function of the Social Work services
Qualifications
- Minimum of three (3) years satisfactory experience in social work practice in a health, hospital or mental health setting. Student supervisory experience. Demonstrated competence in a particular area of social work and the capacity for self-direction.
