Lower School Music Teacher Job Description
Classification : This is a full-time, exempt position during the school year.
Reporting to the Lower School Principal, the Lower School Music Teacher will provide direction for Lower School musical programs including weekly Chapel, evening student performances, Cadet Singers, and an after-school club. The Lower School Music Teacher plays an essential role in educating and supporting students in their understanding of music theory, history, and performance. The Lower School Music Teacher works in conjunction with the office and Lower School teachers to ensure alignment with the School calendar and effective internal and external communication. The Lower School Music Teacher will foster an environment in which students can discover and enjoy music, while building important skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Leverage technology to aide music or videos with adequate preparation and coordination with faculty for supportOrganize and lead Cadet Singers (choir, grades 3-5)Organize auditions
Run practices in accordance with standards for managing a classroomArrange performances and communicate effectively with student families and facultyArrange musical performancesPlan for and involve Lower School office in scheduling student performances
Hold auditions; assign parts and supply students with everything they need to be successfulManage time to ensure students are prepared and events are effectively marketed and communicatedPlan for set up for rehearsals and day-of performancesCoordinate with teachers for rehearsals as neededPlan and supervise a music-related club and a team for academic competitionsTeach music classes to PreK-5grade students, following standards and curriculum
