Working independently and in collaboration with Physicians, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) is responsible to deliver care and integrate patient services with the goal of achieving specific clinical, financial and satisfaction outcomes for specific patient populations and disease processes. Coordinates with patient's healthcare team. Adheres to ethical principles of practice as defined by the Nurse Practice Act and the ANA code of ethics for nurses. Delivers healthcare in a therapeutic and professional manner demonstrating sensitivity towards unique patient / significant other needs. Preserves and protects the patient's autonomy, dignity, rights, values, and beliefs. Demonstrates the ability to advocate for the patient / significant other.Job Details :
- Day, night, or PRN shifts available
- Patient volumes : 15-35
- Case type : general surgery and emergency surgery, trauma, admissions and consultsThe trauma team's skills set includes but not limited to :
- Mix of trauma and emergency general surgery admissions and consults
- Rounding on patients
- Coordinating effective discharges
- Central lines
- Chest tubesMinimum Qualifications : Education - Masters in Nursing required. Completion of a Certified Nurse Practitioner program.Experience - Trauma experience preferredLicensure / Certification - License to practice as Nurse Practitioner in the State of Maryland required. Current DEA Registration and CDS permit required. Current BLS (CPR) in compliance with policy required. ACLS and PALS (if applicable) in compliance with policy required. For Wound Center only, ACLS in compliance with policy required.Knowledge / Skills / Abilities - Demonstrates critical thinking, extensive clinical competence and expertise. Demonstrated ability to work well with all disciplines at all levels. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills. Fluency in coding, ICD-10 and CPT, or commitment to acquire.
