Summary:
The Director of Nursing provides educational and administrative leadership for the development and administration of the nursing program. The Director of Nursing advances the quality of instruction and promotes student success while ensuring compliance with regulations of the NJ Board of Nursing and the ACEN accreditation standards and criteria. The Director of the Nursing Program works under the direction of the Dean of Science and Health Science.
Description of Duties:
Administration
- Functions in complete compliance with accrediting and licensing bodies affiliated with the nursing program.
- Collaborates with nursing faculty to make recommendations to the Institute Dean related to the department's operating budget in accordance to College policies and procedures.
- Implements the resolution of student grievances, problems or complaints noting patterns that may indicate a need for systemic change.
- Oversees the currency of the Nursing Student Handbook, Nursing Faculty Handbook, and Nursing webpage content.
- Participates at all Nursing Departmental meetings.
Program Development
- Supervises the collection and maintenance of data to support systematic program evaluation including demographic data, student retention, graduation rates, NCLEX-RN pass rates, and end-of-program student learning outcomes.
- Works in collaboration with faculty to design, implement, evaluate and improve success and retention strategies.
- Collaborates with the Nursing Department Chairperson and members of the department to review curriculum for currency, rigor and integrity.
Leadership and Advisor to the Dean
- Pursues grant opportunities specific to the needs of the Nursing Department.
- Fosters professional development opportunities for faculty and staff.
- Develops and maintains working relationships with contractual agencies.
- Explores opportunities to create new clinical opportunities and alternative clinical calendars.
- Chairs and coordinates the activities of the Nursing Faculty Committee.
- Chairs the Nursing Program Advisory Committee.
- Provides input to the Institute Dean about performance evaluation of nursing faculty and Learning Assistants.
- Represents the college at both local and state meetings related to the nursing program.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
- Master's Degree in Nursing
- Registered Nurse, currently licensed in the state of New Jersey
Experience:
- Three years clinical experience.
- Five years of experience in higher education (preferably in a community college setting) with progressive evidence of leadership skills.
- Experience with curriculum development.
- Experience with instructional technology including simulation and distance-learning and online exam administration.

Preferred Qualifications & Special Considerations:
- Knowledge of Monmouth County and its communities.
- Occasional local travel required, evening and weekend hours may be necessary.
