JOB TITLE: Holtwood Hydro Technician
SUPERVISION: Operations Supervisor, Operations Manager
WAGE TABLE: HHT
DIRECTS: Others of like classification.
PURPOSE: Performs and is responsible for work associated with the hydro facility, involving skill and knowledge in the maintenance associated with the generating plant and auxiliary equipment performance and repairs. The Holtwood Hydro Technician shall be able to work independently or in cooperation with other personnel of like classification.
Description of Duties:
Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Perform Switching required by hazardous energy control procedures or normal operations
• Tests, inspects, lubricates, cleans, and maintains all equipment; diagnoses, troubleshoots and makes repairs utilizing the appropriate test equipment and tools. Replaces/repairs equipment as needed.
• Works independently or with others on tasks qualified to perform.
• Be available for off-hour call-in at the facility.
• Maintain equipment following best practices and applicable safety procedures.
• Make adjustments and corrections, as necessary, to ensure equipment is operating properly, and places equipment in service and removes equipment from service as needed or as directed.
• Perform inspections, record and maintain readings as required.
• Inspect facility and structures, perform readings and record measurements per the Dam Safety and Surveillance Monitoring Plan.
• Perform switching up to and including 69kV while utilizing the appropriate safety and work practices.
• Operate common hand and power-driven tools, including forklifts, overhead cranes, aerial lifts, pallet jacks, power carts, watercraft, chainsaws, snowblowers, lawn mowers, weed trimmers, etc.
• Perform up to a Rigger I level of rigging.
• Conduit bending, installation and mounting.
• Wire pulling, installation, termination and troubleshooting up to 69kV.
• Erect, inspect and perform work from self-supporting structures
• Prepares work packages, updates safety procedures, switching orders, prints, drawings and work procedures as needed utilizing various computer-based software programs.
• Receive, unload, sign out and store replacement tools, parts and components.
• Perform other duties as assigned or as necessary.
• Perform duties relating to confined space entry and rescue
Minimum Qualifications:
• High School Education, Diploma or Equivalent
• Ability to work independently and unsupervised
• Ability to direct and work with others of like classification
• Ability to obtain thorough knowledge and adherence to Company Safety Policies and Procedures, and how they pertain to the work to be performed.
• Ability to obtain thorough knowledge of the Control of Hazardous Energy Procedure, including the ability to act as the Employee in Charge.
• Strength and endurance to perform the duties associated with this position.
• Working knowledge of the tools and materials to perform the job duties described herein, including computer-based systems pertaining to the job.
• Ability to read and understand electrical, mechanical, civil/structural, hydraulic, pneumatic, and P&ID drawings.
• Ability to work in elevated positions, small or confined spaces, work on or around water, work on or in proximity to energized electrical components, and in hot or cold environments.
• Ability to utilize technology such as computers, tablets, cell phones, and associated software and applications.
• Must maintain a valid driver’s license
• Ability to obtain a Pennsylvania Boaters license
• Must be willing and able to travel for training as needed.
• Ability to pass a NERC security background check (if required).
Budget: $36.07/hr. per the CBA
