TITLE: Assistant Principal
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Mississippi teaching certificate with endorsement in administration or supervision
- A minimum of a Master’s Degree in a field of education
- A minimum of three years prior job experience in teaching, counseling, and/or administration
- Such alternative to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be established by the School Board
REPORTS TO: Principal
JOB GOALS: Provides assistance to the school principal in the evaluation and modification of the instructional programs offered by the school. Supports the principal with providing a safe and secure learning environment for students and staff
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Such duties as may be assigned, including but not limited to, the following:
- Meets all professional conduct standards as set by MS Educator Code of Ethics Standards of Conduct
- Serves as a principal in the absence of the regular principal
- Ensures compliance with school board policies and operating procedures
- Assists the principal with improving student achievement through the analysis of multiple data sources
- Assists the principal in supervising and evaluating all school-based personnel
- Requisitions supplies, textbooks, and equipment; conducts inventories; maintains records and receipts
- Assists with the implementation of the district’s and the school’s safety and crisis management policies
- Assists with the implementation of the district’s and the school’s wellness policy
- Assists in safety inspections and safety drill practice activities
- Assists the principal and staff in developing an instructional plan that aligns instruction with resources
- Assists in maintaining a safe and orderly environment
- Assists in monitoring the maintenance of student records including grade reports and attendance
- Plans and engages in professional activities which contribute to leadership development
- Assists in determining school organization, student placement, and instructional programs and services
- Performs duties according to the MS Administrator Professional Growth System
- Supervises students in attendance at extra-curricular activities
- Addresses student attendance and discipline issues
- Collaborates with other faculty and staff, parents, the building principal, and district support staff
- Maintains regular attendance and is punctual
- Promotes the district’s vision, mission, and goals
- Performs any other duties as assigned by the principal
