Position Overview
The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce is the foremost resource for doing business in Brooklyn, respected as a leader in advancing public policy, products, services and programs that support and promote a vibrant economy.
NYC Business Solutions is a set of services offered by the New York City Department of Small Business Services (SBS) to help businesses start, operate and expand in New York City. Services include Business Courses, Legal Assistance, Financing, Incentives, Navigating Government, Recruitment, Training, Procurement, and M/WBE Certification. SBS contracts with the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce to operate the Brooklyn Business Solutions Center. Since its inception in 2003, the Brooklyn Center has assisted thousands of businesses and entrepreneurs at no cost to help them start, operate and expand, and access multiple services to help them grow and run their businesses more efficiently.
The Junior Account Manager is a direct report to the Director of the Brooklyn Center, NYC Business Solutions. The position is responsible for assisting business customers with a cross-section of services to help start, operate and expand a business. The position requires experience with providing direct small business assistance.
Duties and Responsibilities
Customer Service:- Support the management of a high volume of phone call and walk-in customers interested in NYC Business Solutions services
- Respond to all customer inquiries in a timely and appropriate manner, in accordance with quality assurance best practices and Center standards
- Provide startup-ready customers with a consultation to identify necessary steps, services and timeline to launch a business
- Conduct presentations and workshops to prepare customers to launch business
- Develop and leverage partners as referral sources for customers who require assistance in addition to services provided by the Center
- Manage activities related to business courses, workshops and seminars, customer follow-up, etc.
- Conduct ongoing re-engagement via phone or email to existing/previous customers to cross-sell NYC Business Solutions services
Data Management and Other:
- Create and maintain complete and accurate records of customer accounts, including detailed content on service delivery in the system’s CRM database
- As necessary provide data entry support to other Account Managers within the Center
- Handle organizational, programmatic and special projects as directed by the President and CEO
Required Skills and Experience
- Experience and expertise working with databases; timely and accurate data entry skills
- Experience using customer relationship management (CRM) tools or other database systems in order to track and manage services and outcomes
- Ability to manage towards goals in order to ensure the successful achievement of those goals by specific deadlines
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in both a team and individual setting
- Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills
- Good writing and strong computer skills
Qualifications
- BA or higher
- 3 to 5 years of professional experience in the areas described above
