Status / Hours : Seasonal position for six months. Monday – Friday, 10 am – 6 pm
Salary Range : $21.00 - $24.00 per hour
Program Description
The Education Center provides adult education and workforce development services to the Brooklyn community, offering GED preparation, ESOL classes, vocational training, and workforce development opportunities. The Family Welcome Center (FWC), a part of the Education Center, delivers case management, wrap-around services, community arts programs, and workshops to support students and families. Additionally, the Center oversees the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP), offering job training, career counseling, and paid internships for youth participants.
Position Overview
The SYEP Job Developer is responsible for identifying and securing meaningful employment opportunities for youth participants, fostering partnerships with employers, and ensuring alignment with program goals. This role involves conducting outreach to businesses, evaluating job placements for suitability, and providing support to employers and participants to ensure successful work experiences. The Job Developer collaborates with program staff to match youth with positions that align with their skills and interests while supporting their professional growth.
Responsibilities
Build and maintain relationships with businesses and community organizations to secure employment opportunities for program participants.
Conduct regular outreach to identify new job placements aligned with participant skills and program goals.
Collaborate with program staff to assess participant skills, interests, and career aspirations to ensure appropriate job placement.
Coordinate the onboarding process between employers and participants, ensuring compliance with program guidelines,
Provide ongoing support to employers and participants to address challenges and ensure successful placements.
Monitor worksite conditions and ensure adherence to workplace safety and labor laws.
Maintain accurate records of employer contacts, job placements, and participant progress.
Prepare reports on placement outcomes, employer feedback, and participant performance for program evaluation purposes.
Assist in designing and delivering workshops or training sessions to prepare participants for workplace success.
Provide guidance on resume building, interview preparation, and workplace etiquette.
Serve as a liaison between the program, employers, and participants to foster positive relationships.
Address and resolve any issues or concerns that arise during the employment period.
Represent the SYEP program at community events, job fairs, and employer meetings to promote participation and support recruitment efforts.
Qualifications
Associates degree required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Language skills in Spanish, Arabic, and / or Chinese are preferred.
Strong computer skills.
Strong time management and organizational skills.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to be resourceful.
Willingness to collaborate with colleagues and work as part of a team.
Ability to communicate effectively under stress, while receiving feedback, or during periods of change.
