Summary
The Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation (BNYDC) is a not-for-profit corporation that serves as the real estate developer and property manager of the Yard on behalf of its owner, the City of New York. BNYDC strives to provide an environment in which innovative companies can take root and grow.
The Construction Project Manager will be responsible for managing select development and construction projects in the Yard’s $300M ten-year capital budget with a focus on waterfront reconstruction.
Areas of Responsibility
- Direct projects at varying stages of development, including budget and scope development, vendor procurement, program management and oversight, design and/or construction management to project closeouts
- Proactively manage issues around design, budget and timeline – preventing issues where possible and developing strategies and making recommendations for solutions as needed
- Prepare Request for Proposals and/or Request for Bids, manage the evaluation process, prepare necessary contract documents, maintain project files and schedules
- Manage vendor invoice review to ensure accurate and timely payments
- Propose and implement strategies to improve efficiency of internal procedures
- Interface and negotiate with architects, engineers, construction managers, general contractors, sub-contractors and tenants
- Work cross-functionally to ensure open communication and minimize tenant conflicts during construction
- Maintain accurate and complete department files, both electronically and hard copy
Required Skills and Abilities
- Strong understanding of and background in project management/construction management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Familiarity with AutoCAD
- Knowledge of NYC Construction Codes and permitting process
- Strong sense of initiative with respect to resolving project issues
- Detail-oriented and strong problem-solving skills
- Commitment to teamwork and an integrated approach to project delivery
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally at all levels – externally with tenants, consultants, and contractors, and internally with the Operations, Legal, Security, and Development Departments
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Construction Science, Construction Management and/or Architecture from an accredited four-year institution
- 5-7 years of experience in planning, managing and coordination of design and construction projects
- Demonstrated experience in waterfront development and reconstruction
- Valid Driver's License preferred
Salary : $95,000 - $105,000
