The Assistant Project Manager is involved with the daily management, supervision, coordination, and successful completion of the project(s) to meet time and cost objectives with respect to contracting, scheduling, estimating, bidding, and contract administration functions.
Essential Job Functions, Duties and Responsibilities
· Maintains a robust understanding of safety requirements for all aspects of the site. Including pre-planning, monitoring of construction activities and site conditions, and taking corrective actions to non-compliant work.
· Participate in and/or lead project and staff meetings.
· Understands the cost inter-dependencies of the project and applies judgement to best manage these i.e. attendance costs for contractors, financial implication of overlapping work.
· Aligns procurement and supply chain options to project objectives contributing to the procurement strategy, especially for subcontractors. Assists/leads the preparation of required documents and evaluation criteria based on commercial/market, client and Triton quality, safety and governance criteria.
· Supervises work and effectively utilizes short-range project management programs, production control monitoring, and drawings etc.
· Applies knowledge and experience when providing input into the project planning report by understanding implications when making recommendations related to issues e.g., materials handling, site layout etc.
· Has a solid understanding of the skills and expertise of the broader team and harnesses the relevant professionals to maximize the project’s success.
· Uses knowledge and awareness of project related interdependencies to maintain and provide accurate and detailed project records and reports to relevant stakeholders.
· Coordinates design and quality documentation to ensure strict compliance of all subcontracts to the project requirements, assuring all contractual service levels are met.
General Background and Minimum Requirements
· 4-year degree in an accredited industry related curriculum, or experience equivalent to a 4-year degree
· Minimum of 1-3 years of experience as an Assistant Project Manager or at least 3 years of construction related experience
· Demonstrated ability to perform in the areas of estimating, scheduling, budgeting/cost control, field supervision, financial reporting and client relationships, and safety/insurance
· Knowledge of basic computer applications and software such as MS Office and construction scheduling programs as used by the company
· Ability to safely navigate conditions present at a construction site, including climbing ladders, cluttered areas, working in bad weather, hazardous areas, dark conditions, and maneuvering uneven surfaces etc. for the purpose of inspecting progress
