Job Summary
We are seeking a responsible and dedicated Catholic Musician Leader to enhance the worship experience for the Catholic congregation at Fort McCoy. The successful candidate will provide musical leadership and support for religious activities, ensuring a vibrant and engaging worship environment.
Work Hours
- Weekly Mass Services are held on Sundays at 9:15 a.m.
- Rehearsals are scheduled for a maximum of 52 weekly sessions and are to be coordinated with the Chapel.
- Practices and rehearsals, if conducted on Fort McCoy, are to occur between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. from Monday through Saturday, except on federal holidays.
- Special Services occur on dates to be determined and can include up to 18 services per year.
- Special Services dates are provided no later than three calendar days prior to the required service date
- Must attend all scheduled services with no more than two absences per year.
- Arrive 30 minutes prior to scheduled services and remain 5 minutes after the benediction.
- Attend and contribute to planning and coordination meetings (6 units annually).
Duties
- Provide Piano or Keyboard Catholic Music Support Service including preludes, postludes, offertory, and accompaniment for hymns, choruses, and spiritual songs.
- Lead congregational singing and adjust musical arrangements to enhance participation.
- Maintain a work log and submit monthly reports.
- Participate in weekly rehearsals and special service rehearsals as scheduled.
- Be prepared to support memorial ceremonies on short notice.
Requirements
- Experience as a musician in religious worship settings, with at least 2 years of experience playing piano, keyboard, or organ in traditional and/or liturgical music styles.
- Ability to lead and synchronize with small musical ensembles/choirs.
- Strong understanding of church music and worship planning.
