Job Title: Chapel Musician
Overview:
We are seeking a talented and professional musician to support the Religious Program at The Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) New River, NC. The role involves providing musical services for religious worship opportunities and special events, fostering spiritual and personal readiness within the MCAS New River community.
Work Hours:
- Support two public worship services every Sunday: Catholic Mass at 8:30 A.M. and a Protestant service at 11:00 A.M. Each service lasts approximately one hour.
- Two hours of choir rehearsals per week are required. Rehearsals for the Catholic service are every Wednesday at 6:00 P.M., and for the Protestant service, every Sunday at 10:00 A.M.
- Support up to 20 special services throughout the year, with at least a 72-hour notice provided for scheduling.
Responsibilities:
- Provide musician services (piano, keyboard, and/or guitar) for Catholic Mass and Protestant services every Sunday.
- Conduct weekly choir rehearsals for both Catholic and Protestant services.
- Coordinate musical arrangements at least three days prior to rehearsals or services.
- Maintain and manage both Protestant and Catholic Music Libraries, recommending updates annually.
- Support up to 20 special services throughout the year, including Holy Days of Obligation, funerals, and memorials.
- Arrive at each service at least 30 minutes prior to the event.
- Provide notification in advance of any absences or substitutions due to illness or emergencies.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of two years of experience playing in a church congregation.
- Proficient in sight-reading music and playing piano, keyboard, and guitar.
- Familiar with liturgical and contemporary public worship formats.
- Ability to play liturgical and contemporary Christian music.
- Leadership skills to direct choirs and develop musical programs.
