Accounting Specialist
Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Principal to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the overall accounting function of Brooks and Freund. The position requires strong critical thinking skills, attention to detail and a solid understating of accounting principles and practices.
Duties
- Maintain and organize documents for audits and compliance.
§ Assists with comprehensive processing and posting of routine accounting transactions, such as travel reimbursements, vendor invoices and check requests.
§ Ensures meticulous recording of all transactions in the financial system, strictly adhering to company policies and accounting standards.
§ Balances and reconcile accounting records regularly to ensure consistency and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Prepare AIA Draws
- Vendor set-up, collect W-9’s.
- Invoice inputs.
- Collect and file lien releases
- Collaborate with team members to prepare financial reports as needed.
§ Accurately records these transactions, audits cash collection records.
§ Assists with and processes invoices and billing, ensuring timely and accurate invoices to clients and customers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, finance, mathematics, business, or related field is required.
**Direct experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required education
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in accounting and financial reporting is required, preferably in a General Contractor setting.
- Multi-family utility billing is also a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a demanding environment.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and people skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to manage work pressure and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of general and accounting-related computer applications such as Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to exercise tact and discretion.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff at all levels in the organization.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
