Job Summary
The Medical Laboratory Technician processes laboratory specimens, performs lab tests and results tests according to laboratory policy and procedures and within an acceptable turnaround time to support patient care. All methods of practice shall conform to written established policy and procedure and be carried out to the highest achievable level of competence in a manner demonstrating concern and consideration. Responsibilities: Position will work on Dayshift Processes, tests, results and verifies Clinical lab results according to departmental policy and procedures Assures integrity of specimens. Follows specimen rejection criteria.
Responsibilities and Duties
Perform tests accurately within the established time frame. Utilizes all computer functions necessary to order accession, process, test, result and verify test results. Reviews outstanding work list and resolves outstanding test issues, assuring all testing is performed as ordered according to lab policy and procedure.
Reviews and coordinates daily department patient testing, instrument functions and quality control results. Takes appropriate corrective actions for out of range quality control results, instrument malfunctions and patient specimen issues
Qualifications and Skills
Minimum educational requirement- Associate degree in clinical laboratory science. Will consider a new graduate. Prefer licenses/certifications: Certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or Nat'l Clinical Lab Specialist (NCLS) certification (or eligible) is preferred.
