About FISH: Broomfield FISH (Fellowship in Serving Humanity) is a food and family resource center whose mission is to meet our neighbors’ basic human needs and provide them with the hope and tools to rise out of poverty. FISH is based in Broomfield, CO and provides food, emergency financial assistance, and one-on-one support and resources to low-income residents.

Overall goal: This position is full time and is part of the executive leadership team at Broomfield FISH. The Community Engagement Manager is responsible for leading the effort at FISH to improve organizational awareness, enhance community engagement, ensure sustainable funding, and promote participation in programming. This position reports to the Executive Director and oversees a small team to ensure strategic plan goals are met.

Key Responsibilities:

Community Engagement (30%)

  • Work with all Broomfield FISH teams to generate new ideas and strategies for community engagement.
  • Increase the number of businesses who engage, donate, and sponsor events
  • Connect with community organizations to amplify the FISH message across Broomfield.
  • Connect and attend networking opportunities.

Communications and Media Relations (50%)

  • Develop FISH’s brand voice and maintain brand integrity across all engagement platforms.
  • Develop messaging and provide strategic communications guidance to staff, board, and partners as appropriate, ensuring all messaging aligns with Broomfield FISH’s mission and values.
  • Plan and manage the design, content, and production of all marketing materials.
  • Manage Broomfield FISH’s social media accounts, including creating and implementing a consistent posting schedule, monitoring engagement, and reviewing analytics to assess performance and strategize for growth.
  • Manage the Broomfield FISH website, including updating information on the webpages to ensure all content is up to date and accurate.
  • Respond to all communication-related issues in a timely manner.
  • Manage media relationships, including identifying media and press opportunities. This includes sending out press releases, inviting reporters to cover events, and coordinating with local publications on articles and publications.

Engagement Team Management (20%)

  • Support strategic plan implementation and work with the team to meet goals and objectives.
  • Responsible for hiring, training, and evaluating supervised positions on team, including annual evaluations, professional development plans, and documentation related to supervisor responsibilities.
  • Coach and mentor team members in a strengths-based way, regularly assessing work-load and stress levelReview team data/metrics monthly and share with staff--use data to assess how well we are meeting our strategic plan objectives
  • Schedule and facilitate regular team meetings.
  • Participate in Justice Equity Diversity Inclusion and Accessibility trainings and help embed these principles into team practices and culture.
  • Act as point of contact for issues within team and resolve conflicts across teams.
  • Attend biweekly Team Lead meetings.
  • Work with ED and Operations Manager to give input on annual team budget
  • Review and monitor actual expenses/budgeted expenses quarterly.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, marketing, journalism, English, or related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years job-related experience in managing a team and 3 years of experience in communications.
  • Desire to take full ownership of assigned projects and ability to work independently.
  • Experience, ability, and willingness to work as a team with those who come from diverse economic, social, racial, and cultural backgrounds.
  • A commitment to anti-racism and all forms of equity, both internally in our organization and externally across our community.
  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and multitask.
  • Flexible, proactive, adaptable and able to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Excellent supervisory experience and leadership ability preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills with a willingness to learn new programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent copywriting and content creation skills.
  • Some knowledge of graphic design, video, and social media management platforms, and analytics tracking helpful.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Scheduled 40 hours/week, generally Monday through Friday during FISH operational hours. Occasional weekend and evening hour may be required for community events. Collaborative, supportive, flexible work culture!

COMPENSATION: Range of pay is $65,000 to $70,000 commensurate with education and experience. Health, dental and vision benefits, a generous Paid Time Off (PTO) policy, plus an employer-matching retirement plan.
