Job Profile Summary
The Seahawk NEST program is offered at two campus locations to prepare students with intellectual disabilities to complete an individualized academic curriculum which leads to vocational outcomes.
Under limited supervision, this position provides advanced professional support by providing opportunities for Seahawk NEST Academy participants to develop social skills, cultural competence, study skills, and academic skills appropriate for their educational goals and help them develop the skills need to become successful college students. Provide advisement, mentoring support services to participants in the Seahawk NEST Academy. Responsible for career exploration, assistance with completing college and financial aid applications, secondary and post-secondary school course selection, assistance with the college course registration process, and resolution of individual academic issues.
Serves as the liaison between the high schools and Broward College to ensure implementation and successful progress towards project objectives. Collaborate with other campuses and Broward County Schools personnel to provide support and assist in the development of skills and motivation to help participants become successful college students.
This is a temporary position which is contingent upon continuation of grant funding, which is projected to happen no sooner than 2028. The incumbent is subject to annual performance evaluation and grant contract renewal. Performs related duties as assigned
Minimum Education :
- Bachelor's degree in education, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
