Requirements And Preferences
The Broward County Board of County Commissioners Transportation Department is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Account Clerk (Transit Revenue Clerk) in the Business Operations Revenue Management Section .
General Description
The purpose of this class within the organization is to perform specialized clerical level, bookkeeping, and accounting work.
Works under close to general supervision according to set procedures, but determines how or when to complete tasks.
Minimum Education And Experience Requirements
Requires six (6) months of bookkeeping and related office support experience
Necessary Requirements
Ability to work as part of a team in tight working quarters without windows.
Ability to carry, lift, push/pull, and slide/transfer up to 50 lbs.
Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Ability to report to multiple locations as needed (Copans Road/Pompano Beach and Ravenswood Road/Dania Beach).
Special Certifications And Licenses
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's license for the duration of the appointment
Preferences
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.
Performs general accounting/booking duties, including preparing daily bank deposits, financial records, completing daily revenue paperwork, transferring funds, approving cash receipts and preparing bank reports of daily deposits, balancing cash receipts, reconciling deposit slips, and assigning general ledger documents numbers to the incoming wires.
Performs general office support work including answering phones and e-mails, assisting the front office, scanning documents, updating logs, processing transactions, making change and preparing purchase orders.
Reviews invoices received from agencies requesting payment for services being provided, posts expenditures and transfers to budgetary accounts, verifies through review of the receiver report, and inputs into system to request for payment.
Enters data into the automated accounting system to produce accurate reports for submission to requesting personnel. Prepares and maintains ledgers and reports for archiving the processing of payments and refunds, and for comparative analyses purposes.
Serves as liaison between employees and payroll division, including collecting, organizing and coding timesheets and leave forms, answering questions and researches information needed by employees pertaining to payroll.
Performs related work as assigned.

- 1 years of experience with financial accounting software or PeopleSoft
- 1 years of experience in operating a currency-counting machine
- 1 years of experience as a Cashier handling large volumes of cash on a daily and preparation of bank statements
