The purpose of this position is to plan, supervise and coordinate the activities of a service section. This position will supervise and train staff to ensure excellence in customer service and adherence to the Broward County policies and procedures, resolve day-to-day operational issues and address escalating customer concerns, project or program coordination, cultivating outreach efforts, supporting division-wide initiatives, and may serve as an Assistant Manager at a Library location/section, or as a member of the Floating Team. This role involves staying updated on contemporary issues, trends, and technology in the library profession. Assesses the print, audio, and video collections frequently to ensure that the library is responsive to customers' demands for updated and relevant materials; orders replacement books for regional branch and cluster libraries, manages catalog changes and weeding.
Initiates, plans and presents diverse and creative programs for adults, teens and children alike, including story time, technology classes and other activities that support emergent literacy and creativity; prepares for and conducts the monthly book discussion.
