General Description
Ensures patron safety, guest relations, and supervises lifeguards.
Works under close to general supervision according to set procedures, but determines how or when to complete tasks.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Special Certifications and Licenses
Must obtain a Jeff Ellis & Associates license within 30 days of hire.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule that may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Preference will be given to candidates that possess prior aquatics maintenance experience (i.e., painting, resurfacing, pool repairs, plumbing).
Additional Information
All candidates must complete an extensive ten (10) year work history verification and criminal background check which includes post-offer physical examination, clearing of DCF's Affidavit of Good Moral Character (https://www.myflfamilies.com/service-programs/background-screening/docs/DCF AGMC.pdf).
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.
Facilitates lifeguard daily activities, patrols pool deck during hours of operation providing guest services and assist lifeguards as needed.
Performs emergency water rescue techniques to assist persons in distress; performs CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and administers standard first aid when necessary.
Ensures general safety rules, regulations, policies, and procedures are adhered to as it pertains to aquatic facilities.
Assists with planning of aquatics programs and equipment setup for special events.
In the absence of Parks Supervisor (Aquatics), supervises Student Lead Lifeguards and Student Lifeguards.
Assists with creating and monitoring daily lifeguard rotation schedules.
Responsible for handling employee and/or guest related issues that are escalated from Student Lead Lifeguards and Student Lifeguards and completing related reports.
Oversees designated first aid area, assisting injured patrons while administering standard first aid as needed.
Assists Parks Supervisor (Aquatics) with the interview and selection process as needed.
Assigns opening and end of day tasks to Student Lead Lifeguards and Student Lifeguards.
Ensures general upkeep, cleanliness, and appearance of aquatics amenities including water park, pool areas, pump and filtrations systems, restrooms, showers, and concession areas.
Performs opening and closing duties ensuring pools, slides, and water features are safe for operation.
Oversees proper chemical levels of swimming pools.
Assists with ensuring all staff are properly trained and licensed to be able to provide life-saving techniques when required; Teach Lifeguard certification classes as needed.
Maintains operational reports related to safety, equipment, and lifeguard training.
Assists with obtaining quotes for the purchase of pool chemicals and other pool maintenance supplies.
Oversees volunteer program.
