Enterprise Risk Management are currently looking to hire an Investor Services Risk Management Vice President to drive our mission; to strengthen and protect the firm and its clients by: (i) Establishing a global framework for identifying and anticipating risks to the Firm; (ii) Supporting our lines of business to execute our program of measuring, managing, and monitoring those risks; and (iii) Driving a culture of risk awareness, transparency and escalation.
The successful candidate will be responsible for proactive identification, assessment, monitoring, measurement, and mitigation of operational risks. As a risk management subject matter expert, the Risk Manager will also provide analysis and support the Product Divisions in understanding their risk profile. This role will provide the right candidate with an opportunity to operate on a global basis within the ERM Investor Services Risk Management team and to gain exposure to a variety of business functions, including other control functions such as Internal Audit, General Counsel and Compliance, and make an impact within a critical and highly visible firm.
Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as a strategic ally to Product division leaders in their proactive identification, assessment, and mitigation of risk, inherent within the InServ line of business.
- Leading and driving a culture of risk awareness, transparency, and escalation across the line of business.
- Lead targeted risk and control reviews of operational processes and workflows. Present findings and recommendations.
- Supporting the holistic management of risk associated with new business, business change and issue resolution, acting in a leadership capacity as required.
- Identifying, assessing, and escalating trends, control weaknesses and supporting the development of sustainable solutions for the management of risk in the business.
- Leveraging existing risk management tools, such as the firmwide risk event database and risk and control self-assessment database to monitor corrective action plans, analyze trends and assess root causes with regards to audit and regulatory findings, risk and control self-assessment gaps and risk events
- Providing a high standard of risk reporting and communication on risk and control topics and representing the ERM InServ Risk function within the line of business and on a firmwide basis.
- Fostering a culture of risk transparency, regulatory risk awareness and appropriate risk escalation to the senior management team.
- Supporting the InServ Risk Leadership team with implementation of the risk and control framework within Investor Services (including governance, procedures, and risk-control infrastructure) for InServ’s strategy that aligns with the Firm’s risk management policies and meets regulatory expectations.
- Developing and supporting training initiatives for InServ staff to develop risk awareness, risk culture and understanding of fundamental control principles.
- Providing support and insights on industry best practice to initiatives impacting the Investor Services Line of Business.
- Working closely with senior business leadership and peers in ERM, Legal, Compliance and Internal Audit to ensure effective and proactive business risk mitigation.
- Representing BBH on client engagements, industry association initiatives, industry working groups, conference panels and other engagements as appropriate.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
- University graduate.
- Proven track record of leadership and continuous improvement.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentations.
- Strong interpersonal, relationship, collaboration, negotiation and influencing skills.
- An analytical and enquiring mindset
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, while meeting deadlines.
- Understanding of Risk principles and corresponding practices in assessing overall controls and effectiveness.
- Knowledge and appreciation of business concepts and requirements as applicable to a multi-faceted financial services organization.
- Ability to articulate risk management policies and methodologies.
- A minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience is required, with a minimum 7 years of risk and control focus preferred.
