Nexus Specialty Inc. is seeking a Professional Liability Underwriter to join our growing team in Chicago, IL.
The Professional Liability Underwriter will play a key role working with the VP of Professional Liability in helping to underwrite a profitable book of wholesale-only, middle market Professional Liability (MPL, Real Estate, Insurance Agents and Design Professionals) business in the US. They will take an active part in identifying profitable market opportunities and developing/servicing new and existing wholesale broker relationships.

75,000 - 90,000 Annual

How You Will Contribute
- Underwrite a portfolio of primary and excess professional liability risks – primary focus on MPL accounts).
- Underwrite both new and renewal business to achieve personal monthly/yearly targets.
- Analyze risks and control underwriting exposure and pricing strategy consistent with MGA/carrier objectives.
- Manage and provide excellent customer service to assigned wholesale broker relationships.
- Attend/participate in marketing calls and visits to existing and prospective wholesale brokers.
- Represent Nexus at networking functions and other industry-related events.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships within and outside Nexus to develop US specialty presence.
- Bachelor's degree.
- 1-4 years of underwriting and/or underwriting support experience – preferably in professional or financial lines.
- Working knowledge of professional liability underwriting and coverage concepts.
- Independent decision maker – takes full responsibility for making decisions and consequences associated with decisions.
- Strong organization and analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Continually seeks opportunities for portfolio growth and potential broker opportunities.
