Brown-Campbell Company is seeking to hire an energetic, experienced, confident individual for a hybrid roll at our Shelby Township Headquarters to perform Human Resource and Headquarters responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Payroll - all facets for workforce of 200 employees
- Assist with hiring of employees for 9 locations, nationwide; grow 200 employees to 300 employees
- Develop thorough understanding of each common B-C job and the employee attributes necessary
- Work with management to publicly post job openings
- Screen applicants for interviews
- Schedule Interviews
- Sit in on interviews at HQ
- On-board new employees
- Conduct safety training; video, zoom, in-person
- Search out effective means of finding new employees
- Visit colleges, trade schools
- Benefit Enrollment
- Annual benefit open enrollment
- Benefit enrollment for new hires
- Assist with wage adjustments
- Exit interviews
- Assist with exiting employees, company property retention
- Field employee questions regarding payroll, benefits, on-boarding, exit process
- Scan employee files; catchup and as new employees join company
- Facilitate quarterly safety meetings - occasional travel to U.S. 8 locations outside of Michigan
- Facilitate communication to employees regarding policy changes and company news
- Coordinate HQ reward luncheons
- Corporate Library - Create reference library for company policies, procedures, standards
- Maintain Employee Handbook
- Develop library of job descriptions of each B-C job to use for job postings
- Develop screening questions for each job description to determine if individual should be interviewed
- Develop interview questions, testing documents
- Develop checklist for new hires; on-boarding requirements
- Notify organization of new employee start date and items necessary for Day 1
- Facilitate new hire paperwork
- Prepare new hire manuals (Product Manual, Safety Manual)
- Determine and communicate new hire computer requirements
- Determine and communicate new hire software requirements
- Determine and communicate necessary system logins (AS400, email)
- Determine and facilitate new hire tools (phone, business cards)
- Develop checklist for exiting employees
- Facilitate exiting employee paperwork
- Facilitate retrieval of B-C property from exiting employees
- Communicate exiting employees passwords changes
- Create safety training documents
- Develop safety training video, test questions
- Maintain Sales Manual
- Maintain Warehouse Manual
- Responsible for processing freight claims
- Assist with ISO certification process
- Obtain quarterly company newsletter articles from 9 locations
- Assist with company database maintenance; SIC code input, customer account data accuracy
- Setup each location with zoom capabilities to conduct meetings remotely
- Special projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor

Education and Experience
- Previous Human Resources and Payroll Processing experience
- Must exercise extreme discretion and confidentiality in all actions

- College degree in Business preferred

Job Type: Full-time, In-person
Pay: $40,000 – $55,000 a year
