Description
As a Senior Project Controls Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Earned Value Management System (EVMS) and Project Controls System. This position requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of twelve years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At this level, postgraduate coursework may be expected. Your responsibilities will include overseeing cost estimating, analysis, and control activities, as well as providing technical direction for cost engineering and planning/scheduling activities. You will contribute to the development of objectives and principles, achieving goals in innovative and effective ways.
Project Controls Support:
- Support the EVMS and Project Controls System.
- Perform cost estimating, analysis, and control activities.
Supervision and Technical Leadership:
- Supervise and provide technical direction for cost engineering and planning/scheduling activities.
- Identify trends for management attention and provide innovative solutions.
Schedule Management:
- Supervise schedule development, maintenance, and monitoring activities.
Cost Engineering and Analysis:
- Oversee cost engineering analysis and control activities.
- Prepare and review or supervise the preparation and presentation of cost engineering and planning activities.
Project Organizational Support
- Support project organizational and administrative activities.
Responsibility for Complex Projects
- Manage cost engineering, cost analysis/control, and planning and scheduling activities for projects with significant non-routine requirements.
- Demonstrate expertise in identifying, analyzing, and providing innovative solutions.
Technical Expertise and Impact
- Develop advanced concepts, techniques, and standards based on professional principles and theories.
- Work on unusually significant, unique, or complex issues, providing highly creative solutions.
- Viewed as an expert within the Laboratory, impacting the success of future concepts, products, or technologies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of twelve years of related experience.
-Experience in planning and scheduling functions, including schedule development, control, and analysis.
- Knowledge of cost engineering functions, including cost estimating, cost control, financial reporting systems, and cost analysis.
- Proficient in oral and written communication.
- Proficiency in using personal computer operating systems and discipline-specific software applications.
- Experience in supervision, personnel administration, and training of technical and non-technical personnel.
- Knowledge of financial report systems, controller account codes, and controller instructions impacting project controls.
- Intermediate understanding of project controls general technical skills.
- Knowledge of engineering and/or construction management acquired through specialized instruction or practical experience.
- For CAM positions, subject matter expertise and proven experience with project controls, project management, budgeting, scheduling, corrective actions, and engineering functions.
Expert Level Knowledge
- Expert level knowledge of Earned Value Management System (EVMS) tools and processes.
