BMG/Brown Machine is a capital equipment manufacturer of highly engineered thermoforming machines used in the conversion of plastic and paper sheets into high-value-add products.  Our equipment has been "Made in the USA" for over 70 years and has thermoforming systems operating in over 85 countries worldwide in virtually every industry.

Brown Machine has an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Assembler position at our site in Beaverton, MI. Our Electrical Assemblers wire motors, safety switches, devices and all necessary product line machines including using wire, conduit, etc. on high or low voltage boxes. We are looking for a candidate with a strong understanding of both electronic and mechanical operations and with proper instruction, can wire a complete machine in any voltage amperage or hertz required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Receive job assignment, instructions, specifications and wiring schematic from foreman or team leader.
  2. As assigned perform set-up from blueprints and wire high or low voltage boxes from the wiring schematic.
  3. Install previously wired high or low voltage box to machine as required.
  4. As necessary, perform set-up from blueprints and install all wires, boxes and conduit in order to make machine operate electrically in conjunction with hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical parts.
  5. Size and install conduit.
  6. Read and interpret micro, PLC and relay schematics.
  7. Proper layout of wire enclosures and all components found therein.
  8. Assemble wireways, junction boxes, ovens, side heaters, T/C, limit switches, sheet pull off, safety devices, etc.
  9. Install tags and logos with proper instruction.
  10. Perform all electrical installations.
  11. Upon completion of wiring, check machine to work order, and fill out inspection sheet and do limited testing of machines.
  12. Install required instruction safety and serial number plates with proper instruction.
  13. Be able to do repeat jobs with little instruction.

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. A minimum of a High School diploma or GED.  
  2. A minimum of 1 year's related experience in electrical or HVAC preferred.
  3. Ability to read blueprints.
  4. Basic math skills.
  5. Basic computer skills preferred.
  6. Have a working knowledge of:  electrician hand tools, electrical wire, power tools, motors, test meters, control units, transformers, conduit, cables, outlet and junction boxes.
  7. Able to work an off-shift preferred (Monday - Thursday 3:30 PM - 2:00 AM).

ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Lift, push, and pull up to 35 to 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
  • Walk for extended periods of time.
  • May work in seated or standing positions for prolonged periods of time, perform sustained manual activities at low to moderate levels of exertion.
  • Must be able to access and navigate within each department at the organization’s facilities (i.e. climb stairs, ladders, etc.)
