What are the responsibilities and job description for the Purchasing and Inventory Manager position at Brown Strauss, Inc.?
The Purchasing & Inventory Manager (PIM) is responsible for managing the inventory investment in each of their assigned sites. The PIM employs a data driven, analytical approach in making decisions and leverages all ERP capabilities for maximum efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
· Responsible to hit budget and turn assignment for assigned sites. Maximizes inventory ROI for all assigned sites
· Oversee steel purchasing in their assigned sites, including sales orders (job PO’s/Directs). The PIM will decide how to best manage the requirement for sales orders—new order, transfer, mix etc.
· Seeks and implements supplier programs that help company achieve better ROI while maintaining service levels for customers (i.e. VMI programs).
· Sets ideal (stocked) material for each assigned site. Defines if item should be purchased, transferred or manufactured. Stocking locations and hubs/spoke strategy.
· Sets Min/Max for each ideal product in assigned sites
· Fanatical about inventory management, manages out dead/slow moving inventory. Rebalance Inventory between sites. Mill claim management/oversight.
· Review inventory adjustments in assigned sites.
· Active role in annual physical inventory for assigned sites.
· Develop relationships with key supplier contact(s) for assigned sites.
· Additional duties as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
· 3 years of purchasing experience required.
· Bachelors degree in business administration or related field preferred.
· Organizational & Analytical Skills: Highly analytical. Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, complete complex assignments, employ mathematical skills. Excellent attention to detail.
· Technical Skills: Proficient in Excel and Word.
· Ability to easily establish rapport and build/maintain strong relationships throughout the company and with suppliers.
· Communication Skills: Strong writing and oral communication skills.
· Professionalism: Represents the company well by maintaining professional behavior, communication and appearance with customers, suppliers and within the industry. Treats others with respect regardless of their status or position. Reacts well under pressure. Performs duties with integrity.

Salary: $80,000-130,000/year. Exempt position.
