What are the responsibilities and job description for the Underground Construction Pipelayer position at Browning Contractors Inc.?
Browning Contractors Inc. is a leading underground construction company for the Central Valley. We are looking for individuals with a minimum of three years of experience in underground construction as a pipe layer. It is vital that applicants are eager to learn and work well in a team environment. Most work is located within the Central Valley. Weekly hours will average 45 /- dependent on weather and business demands.
Responsibilities of the Pipe Layers
- Lay pipes for storm and sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains
- Align and position pipes to prepare them for welding or sealing.
- Check slopes for conformance to requirements, using levels or lasers.
- Connect pipe pieces and seal joints, using welding equipment, cement, or glue.
- Cover pipes with earth or other materials.
- Cut pipes to required lengths.
- Dig trenches to desired or required depths, by hand or using trenching tools.
- Lay out pipe routes, following written instructions or blueprints, and coordinating layouts with supervisors.
Requirements of the Pipe Layers
- A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred.
- Underground Utilities experience
- Industry related experience with an emphasis on roads, highways, and bridges.
- Experience performing any combination of the following tasks: grade trenches or culverts, position pipe, or seal joints a plus.
- Must be able to understand work directions and communicate effectively with job site supervisors and fellow employees.
