The right candidate will join a team recognized as industry leaders that is focused on career development opportunities for associates, including focused mentoring by senior attorneys.

In this role, the successful candidate will partner with a broad group of attorneys across the firm to provide advice and counseling to employers on a wide range of issues encompassing such things as hiring, workplace policies, leaves of absence, reductions in force, and individual employment separations.   • Preparing legally-compliant/best practice employment policies;
  • Assessing and advising employers with respect to common employment law topics (e.g., analyzing exempt and non-exempt employee classifications, analyzing worker classification as employee versus independent contractor, the reasonable accommodation process for applicants or employees with disabilities, and strategically managing leaves of absence and reductions in force);
  • Drafting agreements such as employment contracts, arbitration agreements, commission plans, separation agreements, and restrictive covenant agreements; and
  • Assisting on corporate transactions in the employment context (e.g., assisting in due diligence and reviewing and revising purchase agreements with respect to employment issues).

The role is Colorado-based but supports clients who have employees across U.S. jurisdictions. Litigation/ administrative agency experience may be helpful, but the position will focus primarily on transactional work and advice and counseling. Experience collaborating and coordinating with specialists in related areas (such as employee benefits executive compensation, intellectual property and so on) is a plus. Qualified candidates will have excellent academic performance, strong writing and analytical skills, outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, strong attention to detail multi-tasking/prioritization capabilities, and the ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
