What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transactional Employment Law Associate position at Direct Counsel?
Required experience:
- Assisting on corporate transactions in the employment context (e.g., assisting in due diligence and reviewing and revising purchase agreements with respect to employment issues).
- Researching and analyzing federal, state, and local statutes and regulations, as well as case law;
- Staying up-to-date on developments in employment law to help clients ensure ongoing compliance;
- Preparing legally-compliant/best practice employment policies;
- Assessing and advising employers with respect to common employment law topics (e.g., analyzing exempt and non-exempt employee classifications, analyzing worker classification as employee versus independent contractor, the reasonable accommodation process for applicants or employees with disabilities, and strategically managing leaves of absence and reductions in force); and
- Drafting agreements such as employment contracts, arbitration agreements, commission plans, separation agreements, and restrictive covenant agreements.
Minimal requirements:
- Admitted to CO Bar
- Excellent academic performance
- 3-5 years employment law experience
- Strong analytical skills
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
- Attention to detail and prioritization capabilities
- Ability to work independently and with a team
Compensation: Salary will range between $207,500 - $230,000, depending on experience. Associates are also eligible to receive an hours-based bonus as well as a discretionary bonus based on performance.
