What are the responsibilities and job description for the Human Resources Generalist position at Brownsville Community Health Center?
The Human Resources Generalist will be responsible for managing employment functions across the organization to effectively attract and retain employees. Core functions include human resources information systems, assisting with maintaining employee policy compliance and internal communications with management and staff while remaining impartial when rendering decisions. Areas of focus include but are not limited to licensures, HRIS, FMLA, training, and workman’s compensation. The HR Generalist also assists in employee relations, performance management, training and overseeing recruitment. Due to the nature of the department and New Horizon, it may become necessary to work extended hours or Saturday assignments as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business administration strongly preferred. May be substituted with college hours and years of experience
- Minimum 2 - 4 years’ experience in an HR Generalist capacity required.
- Familiarity with HR law: Wage and hour (DOL, FLSA), workplace discriminations (EEO, ADA, ADEA, etc.), employee benefit laws (ACA, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, etc.), immigration laws (for I-9 forms compliance), workplace safety laws (OSHA).
- Ability to identify problems and possible outcomes.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Computer skills
- Ability to prioritize and work variation of work schedules as needed.
- Must display a high level of confidentiality and commitment to program goals.
- Reliable transportation, current driver license and ability to work as a team at any level.
