Authorization Specialist

Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Authorization Specialist to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the authorization process for medical services, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, and facilitating communication between patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical office operations and coding, with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Review and process authorization requests for medical services in a timely manner.
• Verify patient eligibility and benefits with insurance providers.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
• Communicate effectively with healthcare providers to gather necessary documentation for authorization.
• Utilize ICD-10 and ICD-9 coding systems to accurately code diagnoses and procedures as required.
• Maintain organized medical records and documentation related to authorizations.
• Collaborate with managed care organizations to resolve any issues related to authorizations.
• Stay updated on changes in insurance policies, coding guidelines, and regulatory requirements.

Skills

• Proficiency in medical office procedures and operations.
• Strong knowledge of medical coding systems, particularly ICD-10 and ICD-9.
• Familiarity with managed care processes and insurance verification.
• Understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient privacy practices.
• Experience working in a medical office or similar healthcare environment is a plus.
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with patients and providers.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $12.00 - $13.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
