Job Description
The Data Specialist is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of data
collection, management, and reporting for the “Brownsville Seeds of Literacy OST Initiative. This
role supports the program’s commitment to evidence-based outcomes by maintaining
compliance with grant requirements and ensuring the data drives decision-making and program
improvement.
Responsibilities and Duties
Data Collection and Entry:
● Collect and manage participant data, including enrollment forms, parental consent,
attendance records, and assessment results.
● Ensure timely and accurately entry of all data into the CSC Leon Services and Activities
Management Information System (SAMIS) and other required platforms.
Quality Control:
● Verify the accuracy and completeness of all data submitted by program staff.
● Conduct regular audits to identify and resolve data inconsistencies or errors.
● Collaborate with the Program Manager to ensure data collection aligns with grant
requirements.
Reporting:
● Prepare and submit regular reports summarizing program metrics, including attendance,
enrichment gains, and outcomes.
● Provide data insights and analysis to inform program adjustments and demonstrate
impact.
Training and Support:
● Train program staff on data collection protocols and use of data management systems.
● Serve as a resource for staff regarding data-related inquiries and troubleshooting.
Compliance and Security:
● Ensure all data is handled in compliance with CSC Leon guidelines and best practices
for data security.
● Maintain secure records of participant and program data, both digitally and in hard copy,
as required.
Evaluation Support:
● Assist in the administration of assessments and surveys, including CSC Leon-approved
enrichment tools and parent satisfaction surveys.
● Compile data for program evaluations and support analysis of trends and outcomes.
Qualifications/Requirements
● Bachelor’s degree in Data Management, Mathematics, Business, Education, Social Sciences, or a related field.
● Minimum of two years’ experience in data collection, management, and reporting, preferably in a youth development or educational setting.
● Proficiency in data management software and tools, including Excel, SAMIS, or similar platforms.
● Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
● Experience with compliance and reporting for grant-funded programs is a plus.
● Level 2 Background Screening
