Installing, repairing, and maintaining roofs on buildings, using various materials like shingles, tiles, TPO, Asphalt, metal, etc., while adhering to safety protocols and ensuring structural integrity.
BASIC JOB SUMMARY OR PURPOSE – Receive verbal instruction or work orders out-lining in general terms office procedures and company procedures and extent of work to be accomplished. Supplemental and special instructions are provided as necessary. Determine own work methods, plan sequence of work and is responsible for overall accomplishment using the full range of trade techniques and work methods. Work may be spot checked during performance or upon completion for satisfactory workmanship.
I. PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
The next step up from the graduating apprentice who has mastered the many skills necessary to apply all types of roofs. Usually is the next lead man on the crew after the foreman and helps the foreman in the direction and leadership of the crew. Follows the foreman’s lead in the application of a roofing system, but has the knowledge of the proper way to apply a roofing system. Should know how to run safely, all roofing equipment and helps foreman relay directions to the rest of the crew. Teaches apprentices the proper roofing techniques and applications while on the job training. Relays problems with equipment and vehicles to shop/year supervisor for repair. Uses small powered tools and runs roofing machinery effectively and safely. The first phase of a new hire: Loading and unloading trucks of material and equipment. Manual labor is required for this position. Anything that needs to be done to finish the job, (i.e. cleaning up of jobsite, taking materials and/or equipment up to roof, and follows orders of leadmen and foreman of crew). Must be able to climb ladders, working outdoors in diverse weather elements, able to withstand heights, able to lift 100# and push/pull 250#. May experience some skin and eye irritants, (i.e. fiberglass, perlite, adhesives, etc.), sight and hearing required due to working conditions of elevated heights. Must be able to perform job by climbing, bending, stooping, squatting for long periods of time on a daily basis.
II. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Position requires the ability to climb ladders to great heights and the stamina of working in all kinds of weather conditions. Usually lifting no more than 100# and able to push/pull 250#. Must be able to perform job by climbing, bending, stooping, squatting for long periods of time on a daily basis.
III. BODY MECHANICS
(a) Must be able to respond to all operations in the shop/jobsite/yard/office facilities during routine daily activities and emergency situations where time is of the essence. Response is not limited to free movement about the office, job-site, yard and shop, working on a time schedule for completion, or during busy/stressful job situations.
(b) Hand Use: Must have the dexterity to work with general office machines, small powered tools, tools of the trade, etc. in the environments indicated within this job description. The employee must have the ability to distinguish hot, cold, texture, moisture, sharp, and dull.
(c) Hearing/Vision: Must be able to hear and understand overhead page, phone, etc. In addition, must be able to distinguish unusual sounds in a noisy or high background noise environment. Vision requires the ability to read small print, worn documents, faded markings, different handwriting styles, and the ability to distinguish between multiple color patterns.
IV. MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
(a) Employee must be able to perform basic mathematical functions.
(b) Employee must have the ability to remember phone numbers and complex series of actions during the daily activities, and procedure manuals.
(c) Language Ability: Must be able to read and comprehend work specifications, work requests, and procedure manuals.
(d) Writing Ability: Must include the ability to compose ordered requests and related work documentation.
(e) Clear and concise speaking is imperative for direct interface with personnel and customers on a daily basis.
(f) Employee must be able to reason multiple courses of action during an emergency or work related situation.
(g) Employee must have the capability to remain calm during high stress, multiple event situations.

Pay: $18.00 - $28.00 per hour
