What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Manager position at Brunel?
Brunel is seeking a Health & Safety Officer for a long-term contract position.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising, coordinating, and assessing the effectiveness of Health and Safety programs/policies, as well as leading processes in the Health & Safety Management System.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise, coordinate, and assess the effectiveness of Health and Safety programs/policies.
- Lead processes in the Health & Safety Management System, including incident investigations and hazard assessments.
- Provide safety input for production and maintenance planning.
- Conduct and lead hazard evaluations, risk assessments, and initiate corrective actions and controls for correction.
- Manage Health and Safety projects.
- Manage MSHA/OSHA/State Mine Inspector visits, evaluate field activities, address potential violations with inspectors, and ensure documentation of all potential Violations are completed as required.
- Inspect work areas and address identified non-conformities to ensure safe work requirements are attained.
- Apply knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, statutes, regulations, rules, policies, and procedures to support safe Production.
- Present Health and Safety-related information and possess intermediate knowledge of site processes to respond to questions or concerns from employees, managers, and other stakeholders.
- Perform other duties as required.
Job Requirements:
- Leading personnel and/or projects
- High School or GED and (7) seven years' experience in Health & Safety or related or
- Associate's degree and (5) five years in Health & Safety or related or
- Bachelor's degree and (3) years in Health & Safety or related or
- Master's degree and (1) year Health & Safety or related.
