We are currently seeking a Lumber / Materials Estimator to join our growing team.
Job Responsibilities
As a Lumber / Materials Estimator, you will need to have a solid background in building materials take-offs and plan comprehension. You will need to have accurate knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within the building construction industry. Effective communication with the field and internal departments is mandatory for
success in this position.
Additional Responsibilities of the Lumber / Materials Estimator Include :
- Performing building material take-offs for residential designs that comply with company policies and local building codes in a timely manner
- Reviewing construction documents and understanding materials to bid
- Reviewing and correcting potential inaccuracies in materials list
- Preparing building material take-off documentation for contractor proposals
- Working directly with the outside sales representatives regarding all aspects of the plan
- Following up with the status of take-offs and assisting outside sales representatives in selling and / or project management
- Providing data for transfer of the current take-off program for use by other staff
- Providing training for contractors in compiling specifications and material use
- Maintaining take-off software programs, modifying and enhancing
- Reviewing actual vs. estimated materials upon completion of each project
- Other duties as assigned by management
Requirements
To qualify for the Lumber / Materials Estimator position, you must have prior experience in building materials estimating along with being a self-starter with a strong attention to details.
