Brunswick County Public Utility is currently accepting applications for a Deputy Director – Water Operations to join our Leadership team and assist the Public Utilities Director in the overall administration of all divisions overseeing water distribution, transmission, treatment, and the raw water system. Brunswick County Public Utility provides water services to more than 60,000 retail water customers across a large service area. Our Public Utility team is committed to the community and takes a lot of pride in providing a high level of service to our customers every day. This position will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation and maintenance of all Brunswick County water system infrastructure, including: two water treatment plants (one 6 MGD groundwater plant & one 24 MGD surface water plant that is currently being expanded to 48 MGD and is adding reverse osmosis as part of the water treatment process)multiple booster pump stationsthe raw water transmission systemgroundwater wellsthe finished water transmission systemthe water distribution system Work involves planning, organizing, and supervising the construction, operation, extension, and maintenance of water operations and facilities to ensure an adequate and efficient process, as well as completing special projects as assigned. The Deputy Director – Water Operations will be responsible for managing and supervising the activities of multiple divisions and other functions as determined by the Director, including operators, mechanics, laboratory personnel, and supervisory personnel. The position will also oversee Environmental Compliance personnel for the Department. The incumbent is guided by policies and assignments received from the Public Utilities Director but exercises independent judgment in accomplishing the work and developing new programs. The incumbent is held responsible for results and success is measured through reports and program results, as well as economy of operation. The Deputy Director – Water Operations reports to the Public Utilities Director and is considered an ESSENTIAL Employee position under County Policies.
