The NC Department of Commerce, Public Staff is looking for Public Utilities Regulatory Analyst I. This position is assigned to the Accounting unit, Water & Sewer section within the Public Staff.
These are individual full-time positions (40 hours per week) with State Benefits , including health insurance, as well as retirement.

The primary purpose of this position is to perform work activities of the Public Staff Accounting Division on cases and projects involving utilities regulated by the North Carolina Utilities Commission. The position specializes in accounting work examining financial records of utility companies with complex financial structures and accounting systems.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to :
The position provides an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual who is ready to engage with other service-oriented professionals and contribute to the work of the Commission.
The positions DO NOT involve traditional accounting duties such as recording agency financial transactions, managing agency fiscal programs, or agency budgeting. The positions involves a combination of auditing, financial, cost, and tax accounting and allows for critical thinking for solutions to complex issues.

The salary grade for this position is NC18. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon those factors, a pay increase MAY result.

Bachelor's degree in accounting, banking, finance, business administration, public administration, economics, or related discipline from an accredited institution and one year of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
