Position Purpose :
Perform duties to ensure installation and maintenance of residential, industrial and commercial lighting services according to RUS specifications and guidelines. Ensures computed quotes, designs and billing are complete and correct for contract lighting services. Coordinates purchasing and inventory for contract lighting with the warehouse and Purchasing Supervisor. Maintain good customer relations when providing lighting projects and services to the members / developers. Lighting Designer should attend local County and Town meetings when requested.
Essential Functions :
Perform staking and line layout duties as needed. Lighting Designer must have working knowledge of the Futura, Acuity Visual, and iVue platforms.
Compute quotes for specialty lighting.
Performs photo metric designs and prepares plans under the guidance of the Engineering Department to meet local county and town code criteria.
Read, interpret, and change, as needed, staking sheets and CAD files. Develop material list from the staking sheets.
Read and interpret RUS specifications and line construction assemblies, and NEC and National Electric Safety codes.
Read and interpret the Cooperative's electrical and mechanical tagging and other numbering systems, SCADA information, and the layout, feeds, and delivery points of electrical transmission and distribution lines.
Follow standard procedures to check materials in and out of the warehouse. Communicate and coordinate material and inventory with Purchasing for specialty lighting.
Coordinate installation and maintenance of residential, industrial and commercial lighting services.
Ensure that installations, including poles, are completed according to RUS specifications and guidelines and meets all required local ordinances.
Coordinate installations and maintenance projects system-wide with other Cooperative departments and operating areas.
Move or replace lighting services, replace transformers and maintain other related lighting devices and service support.
Maintain good consumer relations when providing lighting projects and services.
Reviews and makes any corrections on lighting work orders after construction to ensure proper billing and GIS information is accurate
Provide assistance to line crews as needed.
Patrol transmission and distribution lines as needed during storm restoration.
Maintain records and submit various reports and forms such as time records, vehicle / equipment mileage reports and gas tickets, material charge-outs and credit-ins, etc.
Coordinate work of lighting personnel with construction coordinators and serve as technical advisor for crewmembers.
Follow safety standards and safety rules and procedures.
Know and comply with the Cooperative's safety regulations and ensure assigned contract crews and employees comply.
Maintain current American Red Cross Standard First Aid and Adult CPR certifications.
Know and comply with traffic laws and regulations, federal motor carrier regulations, and state DOT / Public Service Commission regulations.
Ensure that assigned trucks and equipment are operated safely in accordance with government and the Cooperative's safety rules and regulations.
Ensure that assigned vehicles, tools and equipment are in good, safe working condition and properly maintained. Promptly report any vehicle, tool or equipment that needs repair to the immediate supervisor.
Other Duties :
Use radio equipment for communications in the correct manner according to regulations.
Reviews and approves timesheets / invoices for lighting contract personnel.
Detect faulty operations or materials and report all unusual conditions to supervisor.
Follow safety procedures and keep work area clean and orderly.
Perform other similar or related duties as assigned.
