Position:

Stand-by Home Generator Technician

Full-time, Hourly (Monday-Friday), additional on-call weekends and overtime

Pay: $18-$28/hour based on experience

Full Job Description:

We are a family-owned home generator sales and service provider for the Mid-Coast and Southern Maine regions based in Brunswick. This position is for an experienced generator repair technician (3 years). You will provide service for and repair home stand-by generators that we have installed (Kohler, Briggs & Stratton, and Generac). This position requires travel and a valid driver’s license. You will need to kneel/squat for part of your workday and be able to lift up to 50 pounds. As you will be working on-site at customers’ homes, being professional and courteous is a must. Tools and vehicle will be provided.

Responsibilities:

• Inspect equipment to diagnose issues based on customer’s description of problems
• Conduct routine maintenance work (oil changes, cabinet inspections, adjustments, etc.)
• Repair or replace broken parts
• Work independently and manage workload productively
• Work in various weather conditions (including rain, snow, mud, heat, cold, etc.)
• Work weekends and overtime during mass power outages
• Maintain strong attention to detail and follow-through on tasks
• Attend factory-based update and training classes as directed by management
• Maintain a clean driving record

Skills:

• Experience in stand-by generator repairs (required)
• Knowledge of products (Kohler, Briggs & Stratton, and Generac)
• Basic electrical knowledge is helpful
• Ability to read work-related diagrams and schematics
• Observe safety precautions when handling tools and equipment
• Physically able to handle various tools, able to lift 50 pounds, able to kneel/squat for 75% of workday
• High School diploma or equivalent; vocational certification a plus
• Computer literacy (access digital manuals, file invoices and work reports, perform software updates for generators, etc.)

• Brunswick, ME: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)

Education:

• High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

• Small Engine & Power Equipment Mechanics: 3 years (Preferred)
