The Bryan County School system is accepting applications for a Technology Specialist. The successful candidate must meet all requirements as listed below:
Position Overview
This position performs front line technical work related to the installation, configuration, and, support of end user devices (desktops, Chromebooks, laptops, and tablets), printing, networking, security, inventory, projectors, interactive whiteboards, and other school technology systems in a hybrid cloud environment. Primary responsibilities are to provide first tier support and troubleshooting, escalating issues as needed to 2
nd
tier support. Weeknight and weekend work is possible but it is kept to a minimum.
Job Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
One or more years of successful work experience troubleshooting computer, local application, networking, and peripheral hardware/software issues preferred
Skills and Abilities
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Organizational skills, particularly the ability to assess and prioritize issues and decide when to escalate issues
Fundamental technology problem solving, with the ability to exercise independent judgment, troubleshoot, and solve basic problems in a timely manner
Basic knowledge and skills with computer software, particularly Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to analyze existing processes and identify areas for improvement
Work without direct supervision
Provide self with transportation between campuses
Essential Job Duties
Provide technical assistance to school personnel on hardware and software
Install, maintain, and troubleshoot computer hardware, software, and peripherals
Perform fundamental network installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting from workstation to core, to include cabling as needed
Install, maintain, and troubleshoot miscellaneous network based equipment
Maintain physical inventory of technology equipment
Participate in training programs to increase skills and proficiency in work related areas
Utilize the ticketing system to monitor and schedule work
Manage the removal and relocation of obsolete technology from assigned facilities in accordance with departmental and district policies and procedures.
Travel to any school campus within the county as necessary
Ensure adherence to appropriate safety procedures
Enforce system’s security policies and procedures
Attend mandatory departmental and system meetings, represent the Technology Department in school, regional, and some district meetings as required
Other duties and responsibilities as requested by the Director of Technology
