About the role:
BSI's Consulting division is hiring a EHS Consulting Technician or Specialist for a temporary assignment for about 4-6 months to support client work in the Los Angeles, CA area. This is an opportunity for a professional early in their career or a recent college graduate looking to kick start career with a global environmental, health and safety leader, and to make a significant impact in successfully implementing BSI's global strategy.
Consulting Technician/Specialist Responsibilities:
The Consultant will provide support in a film production settingenvironment assisting with the development of the production's COVID-19 safety plan (in compliance with applicable industry guidance documents as well as applicable local, region, and federal health orders) and to verify the production's compliance with that plan. The Specialist Consultant will be supported as needed by a BSI Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or other designated Subject Matter Expert (SME). The scope of support includes, but is not limited to:
- Coordinate, with on-site Client personnel, COVID-19 health and safety planning in the workplace
- Determine the requirements, in cooperation with the BSI project manager (PM) and Client Safety Department, needed for each department to comply with the referenced guidelines
- Oversee and support COVID-related activities on-set, verifying site compliance and logistics, and regularly reinforce - through trainings, 1:1 sessions, and production management correspondence- that all applicable CDC, WHO, federal, region, and local rules are being followed
- Advise the production personnel on health and safety best practices related to COVID-19
- Evaluate production work practices, procedures, and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the applicable health and safety regulatory requirements
- Verify the required compliance training for all crew, talent, etc. is provided
- Provide reports to production management regarding employee concerns, regulatory violations, and/or other non-compliance incidents
- Liaison and provide coaching to on-set crew members to assist with implementation and monitoring of the site plan
- Verify that social distancing is adequate and work with the department heads and other Client leadership to confirm that the distancing protocols are being followed
- Audit the Client COVID-19 Disinfection Frequency document
- Stay current on new developments in COVID-19 health and safety regulatory compliance to improve the quality and efficacy of production processes.
Education/Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree required Public Health or Occupational Health & Safety or related fields is preferred.
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Film and/or Television Production Set Experience preferred
- Health & Safety Experience and knowledge of Federal OSHA and Cal/OSHA
- Ability to adapt to varying work environments, possesses a strong pro-active work ethic and quickly adapt to new responsibilities
- Lead and escalate issues to BSI PM and Client Safety and Unit Production Manager (UPM)
- Advise and guide UPM and production to implement changes necessary
- Proven strong organizational skills including logistics, time management and scheduling
- Must be a people person who can manage with confidence, maintain policy/protocol with crew, and operate with authority when needed
- Must be comfortable speaking to groups and providing training
- Basic knowledge of safety and health standards and regulations.
