As an Activities Coordinator, you will be responsible for the planning, coordinating and directing of an ongoing activity program with all nursing facility residents. Offers programs to meet the needs and interests of each resident, to include encouraging of self-care, resumption of normal activities and an optimum level of functioning. Assesses each resident to determine appropriate level of activity, activity interests, patterns of involvement, etc. Prepares activity portion of resident care plans. Serves as the focal point to promote and coordinate volunteer activities. Attends and leads activities, while also assisting support staff to engage residents in activities. Assists residents with activities such as reading and writing letters, distributing mail, shopping, etc. Prepares; edits and distributes monthly calendar for residents. Coordination of Social events including outings, programs on campus and arranging transportation. Leads and plans social and recognition programs for staff ensuring a robust retention and recognition program. Integrates staff into resident programming when feasible.
What you will do in this role:
- Organize balanced programs of group and individual activities based on the residents’ interests, needs, abilities and potential. Programs must provide physical, social, religious, creative and intellectual activities using resident/staff/family comments and input.
- Communicates residents’ program to appropriate parties including residents, volunteers, families/responsible parties, and facility staff.
- Effectively encourage and actively promote resident participate in activities/social services through internal, formal and informal communication networks.
- Serves as a member of the service care plan team, including maintaining activity equipment and supplies.
- Assists in the preparation of and distributes monthly calendar of events and daily schedule.
- Handle and account for petty cash expenditures as necessary and to operate program within an established budget guideline.
- May provide Certified Nursing Assistant duties to residents as a strong team member to the overall facility.
Other duties as assigned by the Administrator.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Must hold a high school diploma or the equivalent.
- Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant or must enroll in the Certified Nursing Assistant program within 6 months of employment.
- At least one year of previous long-term care with Alzheimer’s experience is desirable.
- Certificate of completion of a state approved Activity Directors course is desirable but not required.
