Job Skills / Requirements
- Protect the principal against possible threats
- Federal building access control, employee and visitor identification checks, security equipment monitoring, roving patrols of the interior and exterior of federal property
- Monitoring surveillance cameras for any disruptions or unlawful activities
- Providing detailed reports on daily activities and/or incidents that may have occurred
- Knowledgeable and able to effectively use magnetometer and X-ray machines
- Using provided communication devices, such as two-way radios, in a clear and concise manner
- Leverages excellent listening and service skills in emergency response and evaluation procedures
- Performing CPR or first aid when needed
- Ensure credentials are maintained per contract requirements
- Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor and/or Project Manager.
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Be a United States citizen or a Lawful Permanent Resident who is currently a member of, or who possesses a verifiable honorable discharge from, any component of the United States Armed Forces (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard)
- Been issued a Social Security Card by the Social Security Administration, which bears the individual name and social security number
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience security (armed) experience or one (1) year of law enforcement experience in a full-duty status with a full-service police department in a municipality, state, or federal law enforcement department within the US.
- A minimum of two (2) years as a member of any US Armed Forces with an honorable discharge
- Shall fluently speak, read, comprehend English and be able to compose written reports in English
- Must be able to qualify with a revolver or semi-automatic
- Strong relevant knowledge of the security industry
- Shall fluently speak, read, comprehend English and be able to compose written reports in English
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must have a customer service-driven mindset
- Ability to communicate effectively and present information to all levels of internal and external customers
- PSO’s shall be physically able to perform tasks in the performance of assigned duties
- Frequent and prolonged walking, standing, sitting, and stooping up to 12 hours per day, indoors or outdoors, during daytime or nighttime. Outdoor posts may require an individual to withstand extreme heat, humidity, cold, and/or severe weather (e.g., snow, sleet, rain, hail, wind)
- Frequent contact with the public, law enforcement, and dispatch center, requiring an ability to speak clearly and distinctly and remain calm in stressful situations
- Ability to remain on post for up to four (4) consecutive hours without sitting, eating, or receiving a break
- Ability to remain alert for up to 12 hours, with the ability to mentally and physically react quickly to a variety of unexpected and dangerous situations
- Ability to use post-security equipment (handheld and walk-thru metal detectors, X-ray machine, CCTV)
- Ability to read Post Orders and assignments, b Lookout (BOLO), write reports, and respond to both routine and emergency dispatches/orders
- Ability to subdue violent or potentially violent or disturbed individuals or intervene in a crisis
- Occasional running, sprinting, lifting heavy weights, moving heavy objects, climbing stairs
