This position plays a pivotal leadership role in developing and managing GET Freight’s drayage operations in California. This position is responsible for driving operational excellence, profitability, and upholding the company’s reputation. This position oversees all aspects of the operation, including strategic development, risk management, and stakeholder reactions. The primary focus of this role will be on developing and executing safe, efficient, and environmentally friendly drayage trucking operations while ensuring exceptional service delivery to customers.
Responsibilities & Essential Functions - Basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform; the reason the position exists is to perform these functions.
Primary - This section should include responsibilities and essential functions that are highest priority and/or account for 40-90% of time spent each year in execution.
- Directly manage and supervise a team of 30 employees, including drivers and dispatchers, involved in container drayage operations.
- Collaborate with the Executive Team to set and develop the organizational vision, operational strategy, and hiring needs.
- Plan, direct, coordinate, and evaluate all aspects of the organization to enhance business value and operational efficiency.
- Analyze financial data and expenditures to develop plans and budgets aimed at increasing profitability and minimizing loss
- Negotiate with drivers, warehouse operators, and insurance company representatives to secure services and preferential rates
- Cultivate and maintain positive business relationships with suppliers, customers, and transportation service providers.
Secondary - This section should include responsibilities and essential functions that are moderate priority and/or account for 20%-40% of time spent each year in execution.
- Lead recruitment initiatives to attract top talent and ensure effective professional development, performance management and retention.
- Develop policies and procedures for logistic processes to optimize operations and ensure compliance with standards and regulations
- Develop and maintain dispatching center operations and business plans, encompassing all programs, profit and loss (P&L) management, and customer requirements.
